Supervisory Social Worker (Medicine and Extended Care)

Duties include but not limited to:
Responsible as the Social Work Supervisor for providing administrative support to the Chief of Social Work Service for Topeka and Leavenworth based Social Work Staff in multiple programs. These supervisory duties are in the Community Living Centers, Inpatient Medicine/Surgery and Ambulatory Care Clinics, Women's health Clinics, Spinal Cord Injury Program and Visual Impairment Services Team. Assists with the overall planning, organizing, implementing, directing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluation of Topeka and Leavenworth acute and extended care social work services, while ensuring that these services fit as an integral part of this HCS's continuum of care. The incumbent assures that the Social Workers for the extended care and PACT are aware of and adhere to all current directives of VHA and that they meet applicable JCAHO and licensure standards. Monitors, coordinates, and implements new procedures in order to meet the performance measure for medicine and extended care. During the absence of the Chief, the Social Work Supervisor can be delegated to act on behalf of the chief with all the same powers, authority and decision making. Needs to be aware of and educated on all aspects of Social Work service including personnel issues and all policy, procedures, regulations and requirements that effect Social Work Service and the practice of Social Work at VA EKHCS. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j, this part. Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates if schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. (Proof of Transcripts Required). Licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination for advanced practice (Proof of Licensure Required). Preferred
Experience:
Experience in medical social work and long term care preferred. Grade Determinations:
In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met. GS-13 Supervisory Social Worker:
One (1) year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. (Copy of Licensure is required) In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs in subparagraph (b) below. Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers. Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion. Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service. Ability to provide staff training and development. Assignment. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Supervisory social workers at the GS-13 grade level typically supervise professional and non-professional staff. They are responsible for the professional and administrative management of an area in a social work service, in a care/product line, or across multiple sites, (e.g., multi-division facilities and CBOCs). Incumbent may also provide direct clinical services. References:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
